How to add the dplyr/tidyverse pipe %>% to the Atom editor

If you are using tidyverse in the Atom editor, you need the pipe %>% ALL THE TIME. You better add a shortcut!

In RStudio the default shortcut is cmd-shift-m. You can add this shortcut to Atom, too. These are the three steps:

  1. open your init.coffee-script, via Atom -> Init Script and add:
'atom-text-editor':
  'cmd-shift-m': 'custom:r-dplyr-pipe'
  1. open your keymap.cson (Atom -> Keymap) and add:
'atom-text-editor':
  'cmd-shift-m': 'custom:r-dplyr-pipe'
  1. restart Atom for re-loading the init script and press cmd-shift-m. VoilĂ .
